Wow I can't believe I am writing this, Cool is our pet dog, our shadow, our boy who steps on his bridle, pinches our sandwich, puts his head down to knees to bridle. I have tears.
I bought Cool 12 months ago as I decided I would try camp drafting and liked the look of barrel etc, my son (9yrs) made the decision for me as what he would do I'd follow etc. We did draft and Cool went great for he and I both learning and we did put some around to my surprise. My son however has gone back to pony club and we have landed by surprise a show pony to hopefully qualify for Royal next year.
I am writing all this as there is no other reasons to be parting with our baby, Cool is the horse for husbands, visitors, kids. Cool is the perfect next horse after pony.
I and my son have ridden him at Gymkhanas for the year and won or 2nd in every outing in hack classes and also usually champion rider and I pray for sitting trot as it's to die for. Cool does up stunning and his movement, transitions (up & down) are fluent and clean, however Cool has not a show head for ag show rings at all, QH rings for sure he would but we don't have all the gear for all that etc. Neck back yes but he has a real mates face ;( his large white area making it stand out!
Cool was broken in to halter riding which when I got him didn't do his mouth any favours, he has however lifted up in front and very dressage with carriage now as that's how I ride, He will lope and I have allowed him to do that in training also as he likes the stretch naturally.
Cool does not know fear, I bought him off his first owner who adored him from foal also and it shows, He is what we call a girls horse though lol standing on you at the float etc but the smacks have helped slightly.
There is no nerves on his own, out front, new places, noise (woops does not like whip cracks) that's the only noise reaction I have seen. He eats well but needs to be fed and can drop weight if on just hey. Maybe age though. To me a QH was always fat on air but not Cooly.
Ok quietness; You are looking at the coolest quietest Horse I have ever owned anyway, and I have had some horses. Not dead pan though you want to canter he canters, put my son on him he canters (spurs though) put a child also 9 that can not ride then kicks and kicks him to go and Cool wont leave walk. Bareback canter ah hello I thought I lost the nerve for all that now with Cool I'll jump on him with headstall and lead bareback just cause I can.
Never been lame except when returning from a cow work trainer that I should of shot when I collected him. Devastated and sad with haematomas either side Cool and I left that place in tears. Cool had a belly ache last week for the first time in 1 year from a really really green round bail along with 2 others which was totally my fault. He is sound and vet checks welcomed. He has lovely mane and tail both flaxen, he is clipped this winter and honey chestnut, clip ears and everywhere on my own without aids of any kind. Self loads. I use a peewee (google it) bit on him which soon I'll drop back to a snaffle, My son stops with ease and has won many sporting events on him with turning a fast a must, Cool can cover ground and jump 1m easy, trusts you with water, long grass ditches etc no problems. Chooks can eat from feed and dogs all around him.
He is side passing, walk through changes, halt changes (no fly yet) he loves being stimulated when training and tries so hard. He is not a quick horse but if you are a clear strong trainer Cool will need to be shown once and will be there for you next time and he does not anticipate for you at all so you can canter 8 circles at cantre changing at the same spot every figure of 8 than a trot and stay in trot without the slightest oh sorry mum Thought you would want me to canter.
If you have read this I would like you not to bring this up to Feenix if you know him (my son) its hard for us and you will start his tears.
